Comparison

Pixasign vs Signable

Signable is a UK e-signature company with unlimited users on every plan, the same promise we make. So the differences are in the detail: how you pay, what you can upload, where it runs and what it is certified for.

Comparison pages written by one of the two products are easy to distrust. So everything below about Signable was read on Signable’s own pages on 19 October 2026, and each figure names the page it came from. Where their pages do not say, we do not guess.

The short version

Both charge nothing per user. Signable bills its plans annually against a yearly envelope allowance, and holds a set of certifications and signature levels a regulated buyer may be asked for. Pixasign bills monthly against a monthly document allowance, with a free plan, and seals every finished document with a DigiCert timestamp that anyone can check at pixasign.co.uk/check.

Where Signable is the better fit

  • You need a named signature level. Signable’s plans page lists Advanced Electronic Signatures on every plan and Qualified Electronic Signatures on Business and Enterprise.
  • You are asked for certifications. Signable’s security page says it is ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certified.
  • Your data must stay in the UK. The same page says its infrastructure is hosted in Amazon AWS’s London data centre.
  • You send Word or Excel files. Signable’s FAQ says it takes PDFs, Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Pixasign takes a PDF, or a photo of a paper document.
  • You want to pick up the phone. Signable publishes 0800 612 6263 on its plans page.
  • You want reviews to read first. Signable’s homepage says 4.8 out of 5 from over 1,500 reviews on G2, Trustpilot and Capterra.
  • Your year is lumpy. Signable gives the whole year’s envelope allowance up front, so a busy quarter can use more of it.

Where Pixasign is the better fit

  • You would rather pay monthly. Every Pixasign plan is monthly, at the advertised price, with no minimum term. Signable’s plans page shows Essentials, Business and Enterprise billed annually.
  • You want to start free. The Free plan is 1 user and 3 documents a month, with no card, for as long as you like.
  • You want the other side to be able to check it. Every finished document is sealed with an independent timestamp from DigiCert that covers the whole file, and anyone can check it free at pixasign.co.uk/check, with no account: it says whether Pixasign sealed a file and whether it has changed since.
  • You want a monthly allowance with no overage. Allowances renew on the 1st of each month. At the limit, new sends wait for the 1st or a bigger plan; there is no overage charge.

Signable figures from signable.com/plans, read 19 October 2026; signable.co.uk forwards there. Every Signable plan lists unlimited users, and so does every paid Pixasign plan (an account starts with room for 200 active people, raised free on request). Signable’s plan prices are shown plus VAT; ours include it.

Two things make the rows harder to line up than they look. First, the units: Signable counts envelopes, which its plans page describes as one or more documents sent together, and Pixasign counts documents, one PDF however many of its up to 20 people sign it. Second, the period: Signable’s allowance is per year and available from the start, ours renews every month. Signable’s plans page also says that going over the annual allowance without a bundle is charged as an overage fee per envelope.

So, in plain arithmetic on the published figures: Essentials is £480 plus VAT a year, £576 with VAT at 20%, paid annually, for 300 envelopes. Starter is £228 a year inc VAT, paid monthly, for up to 600 documents. Which suits you depends on how many you send and how you like to pay, so price your own year rather than ours.

Technical details

Pixasign’s seal is a PAdES document timestamp, the standard set out in ETSI EN 319 142: an RFC 3161 timestamp issued by DigiCert over the whole file, signed with DigiCert’s RSA-4096 key and SHA-384, with long-term validation (LTV) data embedded in the PDF. The time of each earlier step is recorded by our server on the evidence certificate, whose fingerprints are SHA-256 hashes.

Where each one runs

Pixasign is made by Pixacomms Ltd, a UK company registered in Wales (company no. 15861826), with its registered office in Cardiff. The application runs on Hetzner in Nuremberg, Germany, and backups sit in Reykjavík, Iceland, both in the EEA. Card payments are handled by Stripe. The detail is on our security page.

Signable Ltd gives its company number as 11965482 and its address as Bristol, on its homepage. Its security page says all data stored and processed stays in the UK, in Amazon AWS’s London data centre. If your buyers or your data protection officer need UK-only hosting, that is a point for Signable, and we would rather say so here than have you find out later.

Questions

Which one costs less?
It depends on how many people send and how many documents a year. One person sending up to 3 documents a month pays nothing on the Pixasign Free plan. Signable Essentials is £40 plus VAT a month, billed annually, for 300 envelopes a year; Pixasign Starter is £19 a month inc VAT, billed monthly, for 50 documents a month. Signable also sells envelopes pay as you go, from £2.60 each. Price your own year against both pages rather than against an example, ours included.
Is a Pixasign signature as legally valid as a Signable one?
Validity under UK law does not come from the brand of software. Electronic signatures are valid and enforceable for the vast majority of business documents, and what decides a dispute is the evidence about who signed, what they signed and when. Signable describes its signatures as Advanced Electronic Signatures on every plan, and offers Qualified Electronic Signatures on its Business and Enterprise plans. If a contract or a regulator asks for one of those levels by name, that is a reason to choose Signable.
Can I send a Word or Excel file?
To Pixasign, no: save it as a PDF first, or send a photo of a paper document. Signable's FAQ says it takes PDFs, Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
What happens to my documents if I stop paying Pixasign?
Nothing is deleted. Your account moves to the Free plan, so you can still view, download and check everything already signed, and send up to 3 documents a month. Anything already out for signature still completes, and sealed PDFs you have downloaded keep their seal and timestamp, because both are embedded in the PDF itself.
