This guide sets out DocuSign’s three self-serve eSignature plans, annual against monthly billing, the envelope allowance on each, and what one to eight users pay. Every figure on this page was read on DocuSign’s UK eSignature plans page on 5 November 2026, from a UK connection, with its Annual and Monthly toggle tried. The sums are our arithmetic on those figures, and say so. Prices change, so open the page before you budget.
The short answer

What an envelope is
DocuSign counts usage in envelopes. Its FAQ on the plans page describes an envelope as an electronic record holding one or more documents, with one or many signers, and says it counts once against the allowance however many documents, fields and signers it holds. It also says an envelope counts as soon as it is sent, whether or not it is ever signed, and that envelopes sent through PowerForms count too.
On Standard and Business Pro the allowance is per user. Three users on annual billing have 100 envelopes a year each, 300 between them. Whether one person can use another’s share is a question for DocuSign.
Annual or monthly
The toggle changes more than the price. Billed annually, Standard is £20 per user a month with 100 envelopes per user per year; billed monthly, it is £34 per user with 10 envelopes per user per month, which is 120 over a year. The page says the annual plan saves up to 44%.
- Renewal: the FAQ says subscriptions renew automatically, each month on a monthly plan and each year on an annual one.
- Refunds and cancelling: it says annual plans bought on DocuSign’s site can be refunded within 30 days of purchase, and a monthly plan can be cancelled at any time, with no charge for the next month.
What 1, 3, 5 and 8 users pay
Our arithmetic on the figures above, before any VAT, since the page states none.
| Plan and billing | 1 user | 3 users | 5 users | 8 users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard, billed annually | £240 a year, 100 envelopes a year | £720 a year, 300 envelopes a year | £1,200 a year, 500 envelopes a year | £1,920 a year, 800 envelopes a year |
| Standard, billed monthly | £34 a month, 10 envelopes a month | £102 a month, 30 envelopes a month | £170 a month, 50 envelopes a month | £272 a month, 80 envelopes a month |
| Business Pro, billed annually | £396 a year | £1,188 a year | £1,980 a year | £3,168 a year |
| Business Pro, billed monthly | £54 a month | £162 a month | £270 a month | £432 a month |
Business Pro carries the same envelope allowance as Standard. Over twelve months, monthly billing on Standard comes to £408 per user against £240 billed annually; on Business Pro, £648 against £396. Personal is for one person, so it has no row here: £96 a year billed annually, or £12 a month.
VAT, add-ons and going over
- VAT. The plans page gives no VAT basis for the plan prices. Its only tax note is beside identity verification, where it says additional tax may apply. If VAT at 20% were added, £240 a year would be £288; if it is included, it stays £240. Ask DocuSign before you budget.
- Add-ons. The page lists Qualified Electronic Signatures from £9 per recipient, SMS or WhatsApp delivery from £0.35 a delivery, and identity verification from £2 an attempt. It says add-ons can be bought with a Standard or Business Pro plan.
- Going over. The FAQ says each envelope over the allowance is billed pay as you go at a set per-envelope rate, and that envelopes can be bought in advance from the account’s Plans and Billing page. The plans page showed no rate when we read it.
When DocuSign is the right fit
- One person sending up to 5 a month. Personal at £96 a year billed annually covers it.
- A broad platform. The page lists 1,000+ integrations on every plan, bulk sending, web forms and payment collection on Business Pro, and IAM plans with workflow tools on top.
- A named signature level. Advanced Electronic Signatures come with the enhanced plans, and qualified ones as a paid add-on, per the page.
A flat-price alternative
Pixasign, which publishes this guide, prices the account rather than the user: free for 1 user and 3 documents a month, then £19, £59 or £99 a month inc VAT for 50, 200 or 500 documents a month, billed monthly, with no charge per user. An account starts with room for 200 active people, raised free on request. Units differ: we count one PDF sent for signature as one document. The head-to-head is on Pixasign vs DocuSign, and the wider sums are in per-user vs flat-fee pricing.
