Pixasign vs Adobe Acrobat Sign

Adobe mostly sells e-signing as part of Acrobat, one licence per person. Pixasign is one flat monthly price for the whole team. They are different tools, so this page says which job each one suits.

If you are looking for an Adobe Acrobat Sign alternative in the UK, the first thing to know is how Adobe sells it. Adobe’s UK pages sell e-signing inside Acrobat Standard, Pro and Studio, priced per licence, which means per person. Adobe’s business page describes Acrobat Sign as a stand-alone product, and its Acrobat Sign page offers a Contact sales button. The Adobe pages we read show no separate Acrobat Sign price.

Pixasign is the other way round. It does one job, sending a PDF to be signed, and it charges a flat monthly price with no per-user fee. Everything below about Adobe was read on Adobe’s own UK pages on 20 October 2026, and each figure names the page it came from. Where those pages do not say, we do not guess.

The short version

  • Adobe: e-signing comes with Acrobat. If you already pay for Acrobat, or need to edit PDFs as well, it may be the sensible choice.
  • Adobe prices per licence, on an annual commitment for most plans. Its teams prices are shown excluding VAT.
  • Pixasign: send, sign, seal. Monthly, no minimum term, prices inc VAT, no charge per person. A free plan covers 3 documents a month.
  • Pixasign does not edit PDFs. If you need that, you need Acrobat or a similar tool anyway.

Where Adobe is the better fit

  • You already have Acrobat. Adobe’s plans page lists e-signing under Acrobat Standard and Pro (“Collect e-signatures and track responses”). If your licence already covers it, check that before paying for anything else.
  • You edit PDFs. The pricing page lists creating, editing, converting and organising PDFs on Standard, with more tools on Pro. Pixasign sends documents for signature and nothing else.
  • You want no cap on signatures. Adobe’s business page says there are no usage caps in Acrobat for teams plans. Pixasign plans have monthly document allowances of 50, 200 or 500.
  • You live in other apps. The same page says you can send and sign PDFs from Microsoft Word, Teams, Salesforce and Workday, and store signed files in Box, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. Pixasign works by uploading a PDF, or a photo of a paper document, and sending it from your computer.
  • You send from a phone. Adobe’s page says you can send documents for signature from any desktop or mobile device. With Pixasign you send from your computer. Your signers can sign on a phone.
  • You are a larger organisation. Adobe’s page describes Acrobat Sign as a stand-alone e-signature product with unlimited seats, integrations, industry-ready compliance and advanced features. Its Acrobat Sign page shows no price and offers a Contact sales button.
  • You want a monthly price from Adobe. For individuals, Adobe’s plans page shows a monthly option on each Acrobat plan, with “Cancel anytime, no fee”.

Where Pixasign is the better fit

  • Several people send documents. Paid Pixasign plans have unlimited users and no per-user fee. An account starts with room for 200 active people, raised free on request. Adobe’s Acrobat for teams plans are priced per licence.
  • You only need e-signing. If you do not need a PDF editor, you are not paying for one.
  • You want to stop whenever you like. Every Pixasign plan is monthly with no minimum term. You cancel from Account, the plan runs to the end of the month you paid for, and the account goes back to Free. Nothing is deleted.
  • You want to start free. The Free plan is 1 user and 3 documents a month, with no card and no time limit.
  • Your signers should not need anything. Signers need no app, no account and no password, and they never pay. Each gets their own private link.
  • You want the price on the page. The Free, Starter, Team and Business prices are all published, and each one includes VAT. No call needed.
  • You want a sealed file anyone can test. When the last person signs, the whole file is sealed with a DigiCert timestamp. Change a byte the seal covers and it breaks; anything added later shows as a change at pixasign.co.uk/check, which is free and needs no account.

Adobe figures from adobe.com/uk/acrobat/plans and adobe.com/uk/sign/pricing/plans and adobe.com/uk/acrobat/business/sign, read 20 October 2026. Adobe’s page writes the individual prices as “incl. VAT” and the teams prices as “excl. VAT”. Acrobat Studio is also sold, at £24.98 a month inc VAT for individuals and £24.94 a month excl. VAT per licence for teams, on the annual, billed-monthly option. Adobe’s teams plans are shown for 1 to 10 or more licences, and the monthly-only option appears for individuals only.

Two things to watch. First, the commitment: for the annual, billed-monthly option, Adobe’s individual plans say a fee applies of half your remaining annual commitment if you cancel after 14 days. The teams plans say a fee applies if you cancel after 14 days, and the prepaid option says there is no refund if you cancel after 14 days. Second, the VAT: the teams prices are before VAT, ours are not.

Some plain arithmetic on the published figures. Acrobat Standard for teams, prepaid, is £169.92 a licence a year excluding VAT, which is £203.90 with VAT at 20%. For five people that is £849.60 excluding VAT, or £1,019.52 with it. Pixasign Starter is £228 a year inc VAT, paid monthly, for up to 600 documents a year, however many people send them. That is not a like-for-like sum, because Acrobat includes PDF editing and has no signature cap on teams plans, so price your own situation rather than ours.

Technical details

Pixasign’s seal is a PAdES document timestamp, the standard set out in ETSI EN 319 142: an RFC 3161 timestamp issued by DigiCert over the whole file, signed with DigiCert’s RSA-4096 key and SHA-384, with long-term validation (LTV) data embedded in the PDF. The time of each earlier step is recorded by our server on the evidence certificate. For the levels of electronic signature, see simple, advanced and qualified signatures explained.

Where each one runs

Pixasign is made by Pixacomms Ltd, a UK company registered in Wales (company no. 15861826), with its registered office in Cardiff. The application runs on Hetzner in Nuremberg, Germany, and backups sit in Reykjavík, Iceland, both in the EEA. Card payments are handled by Stripe. The detail is on our security page.

The Adobe pages we read did not say where Acrobat or Acrobat Sign data is hosted, so we say nothing about it here. If hosting matters to you, ask Adobe, and ask us too: we would rather you had the answer before you buy.

For more on how the pricing models differ, see per-user against flat-fee e-signature pricing. For other tools priced per seat, see Pixasign vs DocuSign, or Pixasign vs Signable for another service with no per-user fee. The wider picture is in electronic signatures for UK small businesses.

Questions

Is there a UK alternative to Adobe Acrobat Sign with no per-user fee?
Pixasign charges per plan, not per person. Paid plans have unlimited users, and an account starts with room for 200 active people, raised free on request. Prices are £19, £59 and £99 a month inc VAT for 50, 200 and 500 documents a month. There is also a Free plan with 3 documents a month.
How much does Adobe Acrobat Sign cost in the UK?
The Adobe UK pages we read on 20 October 2026 show no separate Acrobat Sign price. They show e-signing inside Acrobat plans, for example Acrobat Standard for teams at £14.16 a licence a month excl. VAT, billed monthly on an annual commitment. For Acrobat Sign itself, the page offers Contact sales. Check Adobe’s pages before you decide, as prices change.
If I pay for Acrobat Pro, do I already have e-signing?
Adobe’s plans page lists collecting e-signatures and tracking responses under Acrobat Standard and Pro, and bulk sending and reusable e-sign templates under Pro. Check what your own licence includes. If it covers what you need, you may not need another tool.
Can Pixasign edit a PDF?
No. You upload a finished PDF, or a photo of a paper document, add the signature fields and send it. For Word or Excel files, save as PDF first.
What happens to my documents if I stop paying Pixasign?
Nothing is deleted. Your account moves to the Free plan, so you can still view, download and check everything already signed, and send up to 3 documents a month. Anything already out for signature still completes, and sealed PDFs you have downloaded keep their seal and timestamp, because both are embedded in the PDF itself.
