Comparison pages written by one of the two products are easy to distrust. So everything below about SignWell was read on SignWell’s own pages on 5 November 2026, from a UK connection, with the pricing page’s Yearly and Monthly toggle tried, and each figure names the page it came from. Where their pages do not say, we do not guess.
The short version
The free plans are the same size: 1 sender and 3 documents a month on each. After that the two charge for different things. SignWell’s paid plans have unlimited documents and are priced by the number of senders. Pixasign’s paid plans have no charge per user and are priced by documents a month: 50, 200 or 500. So the more documents each person sends, the more SignWell’s shape suits you; the more people send now and then, the more Pixasign’s does.
Where SignWell is the better fit
- You send a lot of documents. SignWell’s pricing page lists unlimited documents on Light and Business, and its FAQ says there is no charge by the number of documents or signers. Pixasign plans stop at 50, 200 or 500 a month.
- One person does all the sending. Light is 1 sender at $10 a month billed yearly, or $12 billed monthly, with unlimited documents.
- You want templates, bulk send or an API. The page lists templates on every plan (1 on Free, 5 per sender on Light, unlimited on Business), bulk send on Light and Business, and an API on every plan, with 25 API documents a month free and then a charge per document.
- You are asked for a SOC 2 report. The pricing page lists a SOC 2 Type II report on Light and above, and SignWell’s security page says it is SOC 2 Type II compliant.
- You sign face to face or want your own branding. In-person signing, your brand’s logo and SMS delivery are listed on Business.
Where Pixasign is the better fit
- Several people send now and then. SignWell Business includes 3 senders, then $12 a month for each extra sender billed yearly, or $15 billed monthly. Pixasign has no charge per user: an account starts with room for 200 active people, raised free on request.
- You would rather pay in pounds, monthly, with VAT included. £19, £59 and £99 a month inc VAT is the total charged, billed monthly with no minimum term. SignWell’s page shows its prices with a $ sign and does not say whether tax is added.
- You want the other side to be able to check it. Every finished document is sealed with an independent timestamp from DigiCert that covers the whole file, and anyone can check it free at pixasign.co.uk/check, with no account: it says whether Pixasign sealed a file and whether it has changed since.
- You want a UK company on the other end. Pixasign is made by Pixacomms Ltd, registered in Wales. SignWell’s terms name Docsketch, LLC (DBA SignWell), a limited liability company governed by the laws of the State of Oregon.

SignWell figures from signwell.com/pricing, read 5 November 2026 from a UK connection, with its Yearly and Monthly toggle tried. The page shows prices with a $ sign, names no other currency and says nothing about tax. Its FAQ says there are no contracts and no cancellation fees, and that paying yearly brings a 20% discount. Pixasign prices are in pounds and include VAT. Unlimited users on every paid Pixasign plan means no charge per user: an account starts with room for 200 active people, raised free on request.
In plain arithmetic on the published figures: five people who send, on SignWell Business, is $30 plus two extra senders at $12, so $54 a month billed yearly, or $36 plus two at $15, so $66 a month billed monthly, before any tax, with unlimited documents. On Pixasign the same five share one account: Starter at £19 a month inc VAT for 50 documents a month, or Team at £59 a month inc VAT for 200. The currencies differ and so do the allowances, so price your own month on both pages rather than ours.

Technical details
Pixasign’s seal is a PAdES document timestamp, the standard set out in ETSI EN 319 142: an RFC 3161 timestamp issued by DigiCert over the whole file, signed with DigiCert’s RSA-4096 key and SHA-384, with long-term validation (LTV) data embedded in the PDF. The time of each earlier step is recorded by our server on the evidence certificate, whose fingerprints are SHA-256 hashes.
Where each one runs
Pixasign is made by Pixacomms Ltd, a UK company registered in Wales (company no. 15861826), with its registered office in Cardiff. The application runs on Hetzner in Nuremberg, Germany, and backups sit in Reykjavík, Iceland, both in the EEA. Card payments are handled by Stripe. The detail is on our security page.
SignWell’s security page says its systems are placed in AWS data centres, across more than one availability zone, and that data is encrypted at rest with AES-256. It does not say which country or region holds the documents, so if your buyers or your data protection officer need to know, ask SignWell rather than assume.

- Does SignWell charge per user?
- Per sender. SignWell's FAQ says its pricing is based on the number of senders on the account, with unlimited documents on paid plans and no charge for the people who sign. Business includes 3 senders, and each extra sender is $12 a month billed yearly or $15 billed monthly. Pixasign has no charge per user and prices by documents a month.
- What would five people who send pay on each?

- What happens to my documents if I stop paying Pixasign?
- Nothing is deleted. Your account moves to the Free plan, so you can still view, download and check everything already signed, and send up to 3 documents a month. Anything already out for signature still completes, and sealed PDFs you have downloaded keep their seal and timestamp, because both are embedded in the PDF itself.
